A Story of Resilience, Healing, and Hope
Nakivale Refugee Settlement is more than a place on a map.
It is home to thousands who have fled conflict, carrying loss, courage, and the hope of beginning again.
Refuge and Honey Center (RHC) was born from this reality.
Founded on January 18, 2019, by two Congolese refugees Joseph TCHOMBA and Angel Salomon RHC grew from lived experience. Joseph survived through hard labor in the camp. Angel, a survivor of sexual violence and an expectant mother, faced an uncertain future. Together, they believed survival was not enough people deserve dignity, healing, and opportunity.
Inspired by the bee, RHC is a place of refuge where collective effort creates “honey”: skills, income, and hope. Through training and community, we empower refugees to rebuild their lives and create a sustainable future for themselves and their families.
We believe that love is stronger than difference and empowerment is the key to freedom
Displacement takes more than homes it takes away dignity, opportunity, and hope. In Nakivale Refugee Settlement, thousands of refugees face daily barriers to survival, including limited access to skills, livelihoods, and healing support. Without opportunity, many remain trapped in dependency, unable to rebuild their lives.
Refuge and Honey Center (RHC) exists to change this reality.
Founded by refugees who have lived these challenges themselves, RHC provides practical skills training, livelihood pathways, and community support that empower individuals to become self-reliant. We believe lasting change happens when people are given the tools to create their own income, restore their confidence, and support their families with dignity.
Your support makes this possible. Every contribution helps transform vulnerability into resilience, and hardship into sustainable hope. By investing in RHC, you are not just giving aid you are partnering in rebuilding lives and futures.
