Empowering Refugee and Host Community Youth Through Skills Development
Refuge and Honey Center (RHC), in partnership with Young African Refugees for Integral Development, successfully implemented the RETI Project Cohort 6 at KABAZANA A NEW GOMA village, providing practical vocational skills training to 20 participants from Nakivale Refugee Settlement and the host community.
The training program was designed to equip youth and vulnerable individuals with hands-on skills that can help them become self-reliant, create income-generating opportunities, and improve their livelihoods. Throughout the training period, participants gained practical experience, developed entrepreneurial skills, and strengthened their confidence to start or expand small businesses.
Training Activities
Participants received intensive practical training in:
Sandal making and design
Handcraft production
Entrepreneurship and business skills
Financial literacy and savings culture
Teamwork and community engagement
The program created a safe and inclusive learning environment where participants from different backgrounds could learn together, share experiences, and build lasting relationships.
